macOS Tahoe is the latest release of Apple's desktop operating system, available for download via the direct link below.
Building on the foundation of Apple Intelligence introduced in Sequoia, macOS Tahoe focuses on deep automation, proactive assistance, and refining the user interface.
New features
- Advanced Apple Intelligence: Siri is now fully context-aware across all apps, capable of executing multi-step cross-app workflows simply by asking.
- Dynamic Workspaces: macOS Tahoe can automatically group windows, apps, and Safari tabs based on your current project or time of day.
- Redesigned Control Center: A more modular and customizable Control Center that brings iOS-style widgets directly into the menu bar dropdown.
- Safari:
- Next-generation privacy features with local-only AI tracking prevention.
- Seamless tab handoff now instantly mirrors your active tabs across nearby devices without needing to open a menu.
- Files & Finder: Natural language search in Finder. You can now search for files using descriptions like "the presentation I was working on last Tuesday with the blue graph."
- Health & Wellness: The Health app is now fully native on the Mac, syncing activity, sleep, and mindfulness data across all your devices.
Gaming
Game Porting Toolkit 3 further bridges the gap for AAA titles, offering near-native performance for translated Windows games, and introducing native support for hardware-accelerated ray tracing on M3 and newer chips.
Supported hardware
macOS Tahoe continues Apple's transition, dropping support for several older Intel models. Apple Intelligence features remain exclusive to M1 chips and newer. Tahoe supports the following Mac models:
- iMac (2020 or later)
- MacBook Air (2020 or later)
- MacBook Pro (2020 or later)
- Mac Mini (2020 or later)
- Mac Pro (2019 or later)
- Mac Studio (all models)
Note: macOS Tahoe is only available as software update in System Settings and it is not yet available for download in the Mac App Store.
