MacMeUp respects the intellectual property of others and expects members of our Community to do the same. This page explains how to report content on macmeup.com or community.macmeup.com that you believe infringes your copyright, and how to respond if your content was removed. It follows the notice-and-takedown process of the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), and we handle notices from other countries in the same way.

1. Reporting infringement

Send a written notice to our copyright agent at [email protected] with the subject line “Copyright notice”. Your notice must include:

  1. your physical or electronic signature (typing your full name is enough);
  2. a description of the copyrighted work you believe has been infringed;
  3. the exact URL(s) of the material you want removed;
  4. your name, postal address, telephone number and email address;
  5. a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law; and
  6. a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.

We will remove or disable access to the material promptly, notify the member who posted it, and keep a record of the notice. Notices that are incomplete may delay our response.

2. Counter-notice

If your content was removed and you believe this was a mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to [email protected] containing:

  1. your physical or electronic signature;
  2. a description of the material removed and the URL where it appeared;
  3. a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification;
  4. your name, address and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your district (or, if you are outside the United States, any judicial district in which MacMeUp may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice.

We will forward the counter-notice to the original complainant. If they do not tell us within 10 business days that they have filed a court action, we may restore the material.

3. Repeat infringers

We will suspend or close the accounts of members who repeatedly post infringing material.

4. False claims

Knowingly making a false statement in a notice or counter-notice may make you liable for damages. If you are not sure whether something infringes your rights, consider getting legal advice first.
